Special appearances by Grammy Award Winner Kitaro and Actor, Musician Max Gail.
‘Native Spirit for Mother Earth’, will be hosted by Dennis Banks from the Nowa Cumig Institute, who will be joined by drummers from the American Indian Movement (AIM). In addition to the eclectic music & dance performances by the Bay Area's Zulu Spear, Cole Tate Band, SF Taiko Dojo, Mary Sano (Duncan Dance), Shoko Hikage (koto), Tony Chapman (piano); and from Japan, Kirilola (eX-Girl), we will pay a special tribute to Native American activist, musician, actor Floyd Red Crow Westerman, with performances by Musician, Actor Max Gail, and singer/songwriter Jeremy Goodfeather. Dennis Banks will also introduce “Saving The American Wild Horse” footage narrated by Peter Coyote and featuring Sheryl Crow & Viggo Mortenson, showing their efforts to work with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and others to prevent 30,000 wild horses from being euthanized.
Kitaro will perform with Koichi Tamano (buto dance) to help commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Piazza Trading Co., LTD, as we celebrate their commitment to community and Mother Earth. We will also feature the ‘Yamamoto Cup’, document of the youth canoe race, with an introduction by Founder of Piazza Trading, Masaou Yamamoto. Based in Sausalito, Piazza Trading has provided ongoing trade of goods and culture between Japan and the United States for 20 years.
